Celiac diagnosis can be overwhelming so here are some simple steps to help you get headed in a healthy direction.
Clean out your kitchen. Throw/giveaway everything that has gluten (barley, wheat, rye, etc) in it. For me, I ended up clearing out everything in my kitchen, this can be upsetting so maybe have someone help you:) If you live with other people make a designated area in the kitchen for your food and supplies. Replace/get your own of the following items: cutting boards, anything wooden, toaster, plastic utensils/containers, non-stick pans, baking supplies (muffin tins, etc.), strainers, sponges, waffle/quesadilla maker.
Download the Find Me Gluten-Free app. This can help you find safe places to eat. I recommend eating at dedicated places to not risk cross-contamination after diagnosis to heal faster and to not get more sick. This app can also scan barcodes of items and tell you if they are gluten-free!
Consider making appointments with dieticians and mental health therapists. You don't have to go through this alone and these resources could really help. Try finding a dietician that knows about celiac disease so they can offer more than just gluten-free food recommendations.
Try to eat natural/Whole Foods after diagnosis. Just because things are gluten-free does not mean they are healthier. Some foods/ingredients can still cause you stomach pain.
Join a support group. There are a lot of Facebook groups that you can join to ask questions and see what other people enjoy eating! Just search gluten-free groups!
Explain to friends/family. This can help you because other people will understand what you are going through and can help support you.
Rest! Your body is going through a lot and you need to rest!
